Description

This tub’s a monster!  Made circa 1928, it came to us missing the all-important standing waste, so we dug through our supply of vintage plumbing, and came up with one.  It’s 80% original Standard, the stems are new and so is the tub shoe and arm.  Everything else is restored original parts.  Inlets are 1/2″ pipe thread.  The tub is shown with the drain tee off, this particular tub has the tee, waste arm, and shoe under the floor.  Finish on standing waste is Chrome.

This tub measures 69″ long, and when you include the standing waste, it’s 75 1/2″ long.  Width is 32 3/4″.  The bathing well is 60″ long by 23 1/2″ wide.  Depth is 11″ to bottom of spout and it’s not a good idea to have the water level above the spout.  With the spout below the rim of the tub, this unit will not pass any code inspection.

As for condition, there are some chips along the base that should be hidden once installed, there’s a 1/2″ long gouge in the porcelain right above the spout on the rim, and both the spout hole and drain hole do have some staining.  Also, there’s a line along the base where the former floor butted up to the tub.  All these issues are shown in the photo gallery.

Being this tub is almost 100 years old, it’s in very usable condition the way it sets.  If you want it to be the showpiece in your period bath, you may want to consider refinishing it.
