Pedestal Sinks
Sink materials:
Pedestal sinks may be made of earthenware, china, or cast iron. All three are coated with a ceramic glaze that is fired to give a smooth hard finish. Earthenware develops a "crackle" finish over time. This was originally considered a flaw in the material but is now a much sought-after look in period restorations. China and cast iron largely replaced earthenware by the turn of the century; neither is as prone to cracking as earthenware. Cast iron is more durable than china but may be prone to chipping and rust.

PS081204

1941 Crane “Sterling” Pegleg China Sink
Fully restored in polished nickel, this sink would make your Art Deco bath stand out! Sink is 24” wide by 21” deep, and stands 31 1/2” tall. Some deglossing in basin from frequent cleaning, but no chips or cracks. Nice sink, unusual faucet, comes complete, ready to install.

1930-ish Crane Nova China Pedestal Sink
We couldn’t find a date code on this one, but the design of the trim pieces, and the fact that chrome was the original finish date this sink to the early ‘30’s. The only issue with the sink is a hairline crack near drain. (this is very common in these sinks). Otherwise, it’s in Very good condition. Sink measures 24” deep, 30” wide, and stands 31” tall. Truck freight only.

1950 Deco China Pedestal Sink
24” x 20” slab stands 31-1/2” tall. 12” faucet centers on 17” x 12” bowl. 1-1/4” center hole.
Classic deco styling.
Good original condition but shows signs of wear. About 80% of original luster with a dozen rice-grain sized “dings” in the sink.

1911 Haines, Jones, and Cadbury Sink
Now known as Hajoca, this company is still in business. This rare integral spout sink unfortunately has some condition issues. There are a couple of chips along the edges of the sink, none bigger than a kernel of corn. Also, there is a watertight crack from an impact in the basin itself. Normally, this sink fully restored would run in the $2000 range, but these issues detract from it’s price. The buyer will have a choice of finish colors, either Polished Brass or Polished Nickel. Nickel would have been the original finish. Pedestal is not original, but fits and is the correct color. Sink is 31” tall, 24 1/2” wide by 21 1/2” deep

Crane Corwith Enamel over Cast-Iron Ped. Sink
We believe this dates to the late 1930’s, our 1936 catalog shows the sink, but not the color. Our ‘50’s catalogs do not show this particular sink anymore. We’re fairly sure that this sink was made between 1938 and 1941.
The sink is in “Very good” condition, with a touch of discoloration around the overflow and one grain of sand-sized chip in the right front corner. The chip does not extend to the cast iron. Sink measures 24” by 20” and stands 31 1/2” tall. Faucet has new chrome on the handles and escutcheons, rest is original. Sink is fully rebuilt and watertested. Nice period sink in a nice color of blue!

1912 L.Wolff “Monarch” Earthenware Pedestal Sink
Yes, the top isn’t sitting quite square on the base..... Once upon a time we had 6 of these, the other five had their faucets, this one does not. Many chips, the largest is next to the center hole, visible when you click on the picture. Sink measures 33” wide by 23” deep and stands 32” tall. Sink will require some work to get a widespread faucet to fit, a cover plate will have to be fabricated to hide the feed hole in the top. (sold separately) This is a good sink for someone looking for a “budget” period sink. With valves and in a bit better shape, these are $3000 sinks. Truck freight only!
