Flush Tube and Fill Tube Replacement Options

76pipe

Offset flush tubes offer the advantage of one-piece construction and more headroom. They do however cost more.

The photos at right and left show the two most common flush tube options for a high tank toilet. The photo at left shows an offset flush tube and a matching offset fill tube. Offset flush tubes may be used on rear-spud bowls as-is, or on top-spud bowls by cutting off the elbow at the bottom. Our offset flush tube is available in 3-1/2”, 2”, and 1” offsets.
The straight flush tube at right is used on top-spud toilets or in conjunction with a flush ell on rear-spud bowls.
To determine which tube you need, measure from the wall to the center of the outlet in your tank. If the measurement is 4” or less, you may want to consider the less-expensive straight tube. If the measurement is between 3” and 7”, an offset tube is called for. Select an offset tube that has at least a 1” shorter offset than your tank outlet measurement. Example: if the center of your tank outlet is 3-1/2” from the wall, you would want to select a 2” offset flush tube to space the tube out away from the wall. This leaves room for a seat bumper / pipe support. If at all possible, you don’t want the flush tube touching the wall; high tank toilets are loud enough without putting the pipe against the wall and turning it into a sounding board!

Straight flush tubes cost less than one-piece flush tubes and are more adaptable in some hard to fit installations.

Alignment Problem Solvers:
Double offset flush tubes (like those used on Gaylan toilets) or any other hard-to-fit alignment problem can usually be fitted by using a slip-joint double-offset like the one shown at left. The double offset is designed to be cut and used as shown in the far left photo to reach any offset up to 5”

Don’t forget the seat bumper! A seat bumper / pipe support is essential in preventing damage to your new flush tube caused by the toilet seat hitting the pipe. Dents and eventual leakage are a common problem if this part is not used.
The seat bumper also adds needed support when a flush ell or double offset is used.

Fill Tubes:
Bathroom Machineries offers an offset fill tube and a 72” straight fill tube. We can also custom bend single or double offset fill tubes in our custom shop. Fax or Email a dimensioned drawing to us for a quote.
Installation Tip: If you are framing a new bathroom, you may want to consider
roughing-in the water supply pipe high up on the wall (Typically 12” below the bottom of the tank). This will allow the use a standard faucet-type supply line instead of a relatively expensive long fill tube.
